Summary

Field Services Representative-Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico-P4

To promote, explain, advise and enhance member engagement and participation in NRECA qualified and non-qualified employee benefit plans and NRECA membership and services. The Field Representative provides consultation to co-op management personnel on all aspects of employee benefit plans. In addition to providing consultation on all aspects of integrated employee benefit plan designs, available program and services options and assisting co-ops within the territory with developing an overall total compensation strategy, the Field Representativeacts as a liaison for NRECA with its member cooperatives.

Travel up to 80-90% of the time in the Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico field territory with periodic meetings in Arlington, VA and other sites outside of the assigned territory. The field representative is required to live in within the field territory.


Purpose and Mission

1. Service
a) Educate co-op management and co-op employees on the features, benefits and advantages of NRECA Employee Benefits. Provide effective servicing of existing business with the goal of retaining and expanding business.
b) Prepare and make presentations to various member co-ops and/or their employees to provide professional, technical or other knowledge as required with respect to all employee benefit plans. For example, this includes employee meetings, staff meetings, Board Meetings andstrategic benefits planning sessions with co-op CEO and senior staff.)
c) Service all co-ops in assigned territory. Note the average territory covers four states and includes approximately 70 co-ops and 3500 - 5000 employees.
d) Participate in pre-retirement seminars, statewide and national human resources meetings/conferences, statewide and national finance meetings/conferences, statewide manager meetings, NRECA Annual Meeting Employee Benefits and Retirement area staffing, Health Benefits Screening area, annual INTERACT onferences and other I&FS-specific conferences and user group meetings.
e) Review retirement options for individual employees with referrals to Personal Investment and Retirement Consulting (PIRC) relative to detailed retirement planning whenever appropriate.

2. Management
a) Investigate and coordinate resolution of co-op concerns and issues.
b) File timely contact reports and expense records.
c) Manage territory to anticipate co-op needs, particularly relative to employee benefit design information, rate impacts and strategic, total compensation view of employee benefits.
d) Monitor and report the level and quality of service provided to co-ops.
e) Track non-participating plans for future enrollment in NRECA Employee Benefits programs and services.
f) Provide input to management regarding territory budget and operate within budget guidelines.
g) Provide reports of issues within territory to Regional Director, I&FS senior management and EVP, Member and Association Relations as appropriate.

3. Knowledge
a) Maintain knowledge level of NRECA Employee Benefits programs and services.
b) Maintain knowledge level of industry (insurance and financial services) trends, products, delivery systems and legislative and regulatory activity.
c) Participate in industry-recognized education and certification programs.
d) Maintain proficiency with appropriate software tools.

4. Advice
a) Analyze, evaluate, compare, and contrast employee benefit plans of all types.
b) Provide consultation regarding benefits issues for mergers, consolidations and subsidiary activities.
c) Provide consultation to senior co-op management regarding benefits issues for bargaining negotiations.

5. Business Development Opportunities
a) Present proposals for new business or expansion of existing business.
b) Present renewals of existing business.
c) Supervise installation of new business.
d) Promote membership in NRECA, Touchstone Energy Partners and other sponsored programs.

6. Relationships
a) Cultivate and maintain effective professional advisory relationships with assigned territory and rural electric community through high caliber and effective representation.
b) Interact with compliance, underwriting, and actuarial workgroups on continual changes in employee benefits offerings and variations from standard plans and services identified by co-op management.
c) Serve as the liaison between co-op and NRECA operations and services staff to resolve problems and address issues.
d) Represent department at membership meetings.
e) Be an active, effective NRECA listening post among co-ops within assigned territory and more broadly across the rural cooperative electric community at various national and regional conferences and meetings and communicate findings to NRECA management as appropriate.

7. Travel
a) Visit co-ops in territory regularly and effectively, with at least one physical onsite visit at each co-op per year within the assigned territory. Complement onsite visits - while working to provide them with information updates and prompt responses to various requests - with telephone contact, regular periodic e-mails, use of video conferencing, regional web seminars, involvement at statewide meetings, regional meetings and various regional and national conferences and meetings.

Requirements and Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree
* Must have 3- 5 years of experience working in group employee benefits-related field and/or in financial services/retirement programs
* Life and Health Insurance License andvalid driver's license
